Ichiro

I just cannot emphasize how much this team underachieved last year with the exceptions of Ichiro, Ibanez, Beltre, and Lopez. The coaching staff mishandled things, the FO was extremely unpopular, and the expectations were too much. There was resentment among teammates, and a losing mentality which, coupled with the injuries, just killed this team before it could even get going.

"Come on Bavasi, bring us Junior"
Looking at our line up,
1. Ichiro "TRADE"
2. Lopez "OK" nothing good in return
3. Raul,"maybe a minor leaguer or 2"

o have to try to focus on the small accomplishments to keep from pulling their collective hair out, Ichiro gave the Mariner faithful something to talk about (along with giving the Red Sox Nation faithful something to hiss about) in last night's 5-3 loss to the BoSox.

While, Lopez is leading the Mariners with RBI's with five.
Ichiro is currently hitting .250, but that should be no concern to Mariner fans. Ichiro will still have his great season and he will still get 200 hits. The concern comes from Richie Sexson, who barely hit above .200 last year. Sexson is better off than last season starting with a .214 avg, but with pressure on him to succeed I don't know if he can.

The Mariners have no questions at the leadoff spot as Ichiro enters his eighth season for the M's. Vidro and Ibanez, two key veterans will return to the Mariners lineup. Vidro will likely fill the DH spot and fill in at second for Jose Lopez when needed.
