Mariners making a turnaround?

The Seattle Mariners came out of spring training expecting to make the playoffs.  Who would've guessed halfway through the season that Bill Bavasi and John Mclaren would be handed pinkslips?  After numerous bad moves and big free agent signings that never panned out, Seattle fans were calling for Bavasi's head.  Now that these changes have been made, the mariners are 6-4 in their last ten games.  Adrian Beltre had seven RBI's in three games in San Diego, and Richie Sexson had hit his first home run in over a month on July 1st.  The mariners have certainly been playing better ball in the past two weeks, but is this a trend that's to be continued for the rest of the season?  Do not forget that two weeks ago everyone said that more changes were coming.  With no more changes made so far, the mariners have acutally played better.  Maybe it is because of a different voice coaching the club, or maybe it's because the players are not under so much pressure fearing for Mclaren's job.  Regardless, Richie Sexon and Jose Vidro are still in town, as well as the more tradeable Raul Ibanez and Erik Bedard.  They are still 19 games under .500, but I don't believe this team is headed for another 100 loss season.  Seattle has never been to a world series and has made the playoffs less then five times in its 31 year tenure.  How much can the city really expect from them?  This recent success should be a glimmer of hope for fans.  Hopefully, they can start heading in the right direction in the win loss column, which will give them momentum heading into the offseason to make the right hire at the GM position.
