Michael Vick: Searching for a Home

Unless you've managed to live amongst wolves for the past two years you undoubtedly know about Michael Vick's dog fighting ring. Michael has been out of professional football for two whole seasons and most of that time was spent in prison. Although, an average American cannot return to his or her job after being imprisoned; Michael Vick can and he will, because he is a professional football player.
The over used argument, "If this happened to me I wouldn't get a second chance." is ludicrous. If you, like Vick, have a job that only 1% of the population can do I bet you would be allowed back under some circumstances. Most of us; however, do not have this job and we are easily replaced. NFL players are basically celebrities. One cannot expect for the same rules to apply, so don't use that as an argument to keep Vick sidelined.
With that said, obviously there is hesitation by NFL teams to give Vick a chance. Wake up San Francisco! Message to the 49ers you have two back-up quarterbacks competing for your starting job. You play in the most forgiving city in the United States. You have a hard-nosed coach who doesn't put up with pampered athletes. You can compete in your division! What is there to think about?
I'm sure that Michael Crabtree wouldn't mind catching balls from Michael Vick. I'm sure your fans wouldn't mind seeing the niners back in the playoffs. Let the guy work his way on to your team. Start one of the scrubs you have at quarterback for the first half of the season and lets say your 3-5 with a bad quarterback. Put in Vick and go 10-6 and win your division. Do it for him and do it for your fans.
The 49ers are perhaps the only team that needs a wake-up call, but there are other suitors for Vick. The Seattle Seahawks under former Falcons coach Jim Mora Jr could use a high caliber back-up QB. With an aging Matt Hasselbeck and a flighty Seneca Wallace backing him up, Vick could be #2 on the depth chart for a season, appearing in a couple game situations or in case of injury and then start him next year. I wonder if Mora and Roger Goodell talked about Vick at all on their hike up Mt. Rainier.
The Tennessee Titans also a pretty good fit for Vick. Tennessee and Vince Young need a divorce in order for Vick to happen, but they have an aging starting quarterback and a rushing attack that is made for Vick.
San Francisco it would not be smart to let this oppurtunity pass you by. Signing Vick is not like adding Pacman Jones to your roster. Vick actually improves your team. The guy was the face of the league no more than three years ago. He will significantly improve your team, which is what the sport is all about. Give him a shot.
